The news is Adobe is moving to Creative Cloud only. Want a new version of Photoshop, well cough up $20-$50/month by annual contract now!
This is awesome for businesses. But sucks for freelancers.

This is obviously a sneaky way to bring in new customers and stop pirating of their software. This trend is kinda annoying. I was all for it when SimCity came out but SimCity is game not a Designer’s bread and butter. Guess what, now when you travel, better hope you have internet.

On top of that Adobe puts out their new stylus pen, Project Mighty. An incredibly laggy and lame approach to drawing on a tablet. It’s a kid’s toy, what designer would take that seriously?

Poor Myspace.

I want to love you again Myspace. But I don’t think you’ll be able to recover this time. You’re no different than the windows phone at this point. Why drag out this miserable death. Justin you should’ve changed the name from Myspace to something else, so no one would relate it to the disaster that it is. Those impressive stats (picture above) mean nothing now.

Back in 2003-2008, Myspace was my life. (I just got depressed just writing that.) I had lots of friends on Myspace, operated my own cultural group (met my wife on it), and listened to a variety of musical artists. Myspace was my avenue to new music.

Now with Spotify and Soundcloud, I never need to visit Myspace anymore. Especially since Spotify and Soundcloud allow you to follow or friend users.

I sadly can no longer recommend Myspace to anyone. Sorry Justin. Oh and stop searching YouTube for songs… VEVO, Spotify, and Soundcloud is the better option.

Why is it something to look into? Its a 24/7 all online music entertainment. Music videos, interviews and original shows. Its available for free online, android, iphone, ipad, and Xbox 360.

From my short time watching, I’ve come to find out its uncensored. I know this because the current music video playing, the guy is singing about bitches and blunts. So parents you might want to know about this service and before you start to censor the service and monitor your kids.

I’m pretty excited to relive my old MTV days!

Comixology is giving away for Free 700 Digital Downloads including Marvel’s #1s. I counted only 688 of actual Marvel Titles.

Ok… finding 700 Free Comics is rare. And not always so easy. The site is incredibly slow when I visited it and got a few errors. But it will be worth the trouble when you have that much eye candy and reading material.

Google has started selling their new Chromebook Pixel at $1299. Yikes that’s a lot for a Chromebook. What justifies the high cost? Well premium parts, Gorilla Glass multi-touchscreen, Intel i5 chip, 32GB or 64GB solid state drive, Backlit keyboard and the fact they could sell on it “sale” for $999 in a few months?
So far on paper it really doesn’t seem to cutting edge for that $1300 price tag. Maybe you just need to experience it if you are lucky enough to have already received your Chromebook or try testing it out at your local best buy that has it available in-store. For me, a computer that can only operate Google Chrome OS is only worth $199. Luckily the Acer C7 Chromebook is just the right price with the perfect specs. Give it time folks, it will get better. Plus with the announcement of Google retail stores coming soon, their products department will surely increase in size, demand and quality.

It’s been a long time since I’ve played SimCity. A very long time! SimCity is now in its 6th release. I got my hands on the closed beta 2nd round and boy is it fun. My short time with SimCity showcased some amazing visuals and gameplay. I just know I’m going to spend long hours playing the game. Best of all… No more placing electrical lines! I told you I haven’t played in a long time!

The terrain you start building with looks like an actual terrain. Not like the old blocks you had to deal with. You almost don’t want to modify it, it’s just too beautiful to mess with.

iWatch (my thoughts)

The news feeds are letting everyone know an “iWatch” from Apple is coming. Apple’s history of under delivering their first generation product and through the years the 3rd or 4th version of the product becomes a must have item, we believe the iWatch can be a huge disappointment or mega hit. Everyone wants the Dick Tracy watch. I totally would love that!

Bluetooth & E-ink technology is what makes the Pebble Watch a success and might have given Apple the extra push to create an iWatch. For Apple to do this right, it needs to have the watch sync and interact with all their Bluetooth products, function as a standalone phone (no iPhone or Bluetooth necessary), and its gotta be stylish/functional.

Apple might already have the foundation ready with the iPod Nano. That MP3 player is tiny, lightweight, multi-functional, touch screen and already converts into a watch by 3rd party support. It would be so easy to push a iPod Nano Watch…. so easy. I on the other would like to challenge Apple on creating something unique.

The Apple iWatch doesn’t need to do everything. Just start with the Dick Tracy watch and move on from there. If there is one thing that Apple does well, its simplicity.

In 2012 we’ve taken quite a few breaks in our schedule……. but that’s life. 2013 we plan on hittin’ it hard. We plan on expanding topics and find the things that matter to our readers. Just wanted to say thanks for following our Robot Sonic train.

Here is a few things we are excited about for 2013:

6. Sim City: Dudes… its coming March 5th 2013. And we can’t wait!

5. New Mobile Devices: The price of tablets are getting cheaper and Android is leading that pack. While currently the quality of these tablets are lacking, that should be a thing of the past in the new year. Google’s Android and Apple’s IOS 7 should be interesting.

4. Video Games: I’ve gotten my hands on the new WII U and its really interesting. I claim it as a giant Nintendo DS. The future of Sony and Microsoft in gaming will be tested this next year.

3. The fate of Microsoft Windows 8: Will it last??? You can only push your customers enough before their just not that interested.

2. New Streaming Services: Movies, TV shows, Original Content, Music… Where will Spotify, Hulu, Netflix, Pandora, and Crackle stand the coming year.

1. All the new gadgets that will shape our future!

First Ever Crowdfunded Skyscraper

BD Bacatá is the world’s first crowdfunded Skyscraper located in Bogota, Columbia. They explain how existing skyscrapers are built by the rich and large corporations and now a new approach to funding gives investment opportunities to the people of Columbia to own real estate in a whole new way.

Investors of the BD Bacatá buy portions of the building called “Fidi”, Figure International Real Estate Investment. The abbreviation doesn’t really match the english explanation because it really stands for Fédération Internationale des Déménageurs Internationaux, but whatever. Think of Fidis as buying stocks in a corporation. Or better yet a time share.

This 60 story building will not be the first and only crowdfunded opportunity to own real estate. I would expect a boom of this style of crowdfunding to take place.

Rosie the Robot is so close!

Rosie the Robot Maid from the Jetsons was one of my favorite characters on the show. Her sarcastic attitude, shiny metal maid outfit, squeaky wheels and beeping lights was just the highlight. And at last we finally have a Rosie prototype!

I only thought of Rosie because my car was making a rattling noise and just reminded me of the lovely robot maid. Although I would love nothing more than a robot maid to cook, clean, and vacuum all day.

This first video is a little old but worth bring back. It’s a robot problem solving how to fold a towel.

The second video is more recent, but still more of the same folding clothes.

You’ve heard of the dollar store? Well the web has its own version of a fixed low price machine. Fiverr is place where everything starts at $5. Anything you can think of is $5. Fiverr is not so much products as it is services. Want to yell at someone about anything for $5? They got that. Want to get a genius photographic memory in seven days for $5? This guy is offering. Want to know how to save money when traveling in Japan? She has the way. Want a hot girl to hula hoop for you in a bikini and make her say anything you want her to for $5? God Bless her.

You can see where I’m going with this. This is such a unique service to individuals, businesses, and communities. Their categories go anywhere from Gifts, Graphics & Design, Online Marketing, Lifestyle, Travel, Technology, and much more. Certainly the Fun & Bizarre category is worth checking out. My guess would be Logo Design is the popular and abundant service.

Pardon Our Relocation

I feel like its been forever since we talked! We are getting settled in our new home in Silicon Valley. Surprisingly enough the real estate market is gone crazy here. Tons of people have been foreclosed upon so the rental market is crazy. Who knew finding a place to live is really hard, at least trying to stay within a budget.

Well we hope to have our operation up and running soon. If there is anything we can do to make this move easier on you, please don’t hesitate to mention. Because god knows I have a large grocery list on what can make this move easier on us!
